Safety Policy

Last updated: not yet published

Our safety commitment

Rendly helps people meet over real plans: a dinner, a movie, a show. Meeting someone new should feel exciting, not risky. This policy explains who can use Rendly, how we keep meetings safe, what we don't allow, and what happens when something goes wrong.

It applies to everyone who uses Rendly. It's operated by Rendly Labs LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company ("Rendly," "we").

Rendly does not conduct criminal background screenings.

Who can use Rendly

Every member is verified before they can post a plan or ask to join one.

Check When What it confirms
Phone number Sign-up A real, reachable person; one account per phone number
Age 18+ Sign-up Birthday entered at sign-up; accounts under 18 are refused
Government ID Before posting or joining a plan A valid government photo ID, and that the ID's date of birth shows the member is 18 or older
Live selfie Before posting or joining a plan The person is present in real time, and matches their ID and profile photos

How meetings are kept safe

Every Rendly date starts with a plan at a public place, and safety tools are built into each one.

Community rules and prohibited conduct

These rules apply on Rendly and at any meeting arranged through it. Breaking them can lead to removal.

Misconduct that threatens safety (removal and, where appropriate, a report to law enforcement):

Consent. Engaging in sexual conduct with another person without their consent violates this policy and is against the law. Consent must be clear, freely given and can be withdrawn at any time.

Also not allowed:

Scams, money and off-platform contact

Contact details stay private. Members talk only through Rendly chat. Phone numbers, email addresses, social media and messaging handles, and requests to move the conversation off Rendly are blocked in chat messages, plan notes, join requests and profiles. Trying to get around the block, for example by spelling out a number, breaks our Community Rules and can lead to removal.

Rendly never involves money between members, so any request for money is a red flag.

Reporting, blocking and how we respond

You can report or block your match at any time from your chat. Reports are private: the member won't know who reported them.

How to report: tap "Report or block," choose what happened (fake profile, harassment, asked for money, didn't show up, made me feel unsafe, may be under 18, something else), and add details if you want. You can also email safety@joinrendly.com. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 first.

Please report honestly. Knowingly false reports hurt real people and violate this policy. Accounts that file them may be suspended.

Step What happens Timing
Received The report goes into our review queue Immediately
Serious reports Threats, violence, sexual misconduct, minors or scams are reviewed by a person Within 24 hours
Other reports Reviewed by a person Within 72 hours
Immediate protection For serious reports, the reported account can be suspended while we review During review
Outcome Warning, removal of content, suspension, or a permanent ban After review

Suspensions from reports. We suspend a profile when a report is credible and involves safety misconduct, or after repeated reports of other violations.

Notifying other members. When we remove a member for misconduct that threatens safety, we send a notice to members who were in contact with that person through Rendly, without revealing who made the report.

Appeals. A suspended or banned member can appeal once by emailing appeals@joinrendly.com within 30 days. A different reviewer decides within 14 days. Removals for serious safety misconduct are final unless the appeal shows a clear mistake, such as a mistaken identity.

Safety awareness notice. Anyone who is able to commit identity theft can also falsify a dating profile. There is no substitute for acting with caution when communicating with any stranger who wants to meet you. Never include your last name, email address, home address, phone number, place of work or other identifying information in your profile or first messages. Always tell a friend or family member where and when you're going, meet in a public place, and arrange your own transportation.

Emergencies, law enforcement and support

If you are in danger, call 911.

Working with law enforcement. We respond to valid legal requests from law enforcement and preserve relevant account data when we receive a preservation request. We may share information without a legal request when we believe someone is in imminent danger. Requests: lawenforcement@joinrendly.com.

Privacy of safety data

App-store age checks. Where the law requires it, Rendly reads the age range Apple or Google provides at sign-up and refuses accounts the store reports as under 18. The government-ID check still confirms 18+ for everyone.

Contact and updates

We'll update this policy as Rendly and the law change, and we'll notify members of material changes in the app.
